About me
The Foundation: 13 Years of Military Leadership
For over a decade as a U.S. Army Officer and Company Commander, my job was managing risk, solving complex problems under pressure, and serving as the escalation point for over 200 personnel. Maintaining 100% accountability for over $100 million in critical assets demanded strict operational discipline, but the real foundation was the Army Values. Integrity, duty, and respect are the same traits it takes to earn a team's trust and protect sensitive data.
The Pivot: Embracing the Learning Curve
Transitioning from the military into IT is humbling. The technology landscape moves fast, and a real technical foundation has to be built from the ground up. I'm approaching this with a student's mindset: committed to the daily grind of learning the craft, respecting the complexity of the field, and putting in the hours to understand how networks actually operate.
The Current Mission: Building the Technical Baseline
I'm completing my B.S. in Cybersecurity at Southern New Hampshire University while pursuing my CompTIA A+. In hands-on labs, I'm turning theory into execution. That means analyzing packet captures in Wireshark, triaging intrusion alerts with Snort, and configuring segmented networks in Packet Tracer and GNS3.
The Goal: The Forensics Puzzle
My immediate goal is a foundational IT or security role where I can prove my reliability, learn from experienced professionals, and master the basics. Long-term, my end state is digital forensics. In the Army I conducted formal investigations, gathering evidence, determining root cause, and documenting findings. I love putting a complex puzzle together and finding the truth. I know getting there takes time and hands-on experience, and I'm committed to building the baseline first.
